Biography

I've been a practicing software engineer for 25 years. I've worked on creating or improving a large number of systems you have used. Google Search, Google Adwords, Google Adsense, machine learning at scale, distributed systems at extreme scale, Snapchat's network of mobile phones and backends, distributed high performance databases, bigtable, and more. I have a keen interest in incentivizing correctness and performance in design in software engineering organizations, the creation of efficient software of all types, avoiding maintenance cost in systems, and creating and growing large scale systems.

Perebor

Perebor is a concept that arose from the Russian Cold War branch of computer science that means "computational brute force methods". It is more or less the opposite of what you want to do in computer science, and is related to combinatorics, NP-completeness, Kolomogorov complexity, and information theory. I find the concept of rigorously studying brute force methods extremely funny.
